Women and Families holiday gift card drive

The Center for Women and Families is hosting its annual holiday gift card drive, asking individuals, businesses and community groups to purchase and deliver gift cards in increments of $25 in lieu of bringing gifts to the shelter.

Due to the down economy, donations are behind previous year’s contributions. Almost 1,000 area adults and children surviving intimate partner abuse and sexual violence will rely on The Center for Women and Families’ holiday gift card drive as the sole means of providing gifts for loved ones this holiday season.

Gift cards allow residents living in emergency shelter to safely shop online for their holiday gifts and nonresidential support groups to shop together on designated shopping days. The Center prefers gift cards from the following locations: Kmart, Target, Wal-Mart, Meijer, J.C. Penney, Kohl’s and local malls.

Cards can be dropped off at the Southern Indiana Campus, Charlestown Road in New Albany, from 8 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday (Call 812-944-6743 for directions); or mail card to: The Center for Women and Families, ATTN: Chris, P.O. Box 2048, Louisville, KY, 40201-2048 and include your name and mailing address with the cards.
