Road to close for repair
Old Vincennes Road will be closed near Captain Frank Road and Brandywynne Lane in New Albany to allow for sewer work and resurfacing.
The road is scheduled to be closed daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. from July 27 to Aug. 10.
Probation office hosting fundraiser
The Floyd County probation office will be holding a fundraiser for the American Heart Association.
Beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, a yard sale will be held at 1613 E. Spring St., and on Sunday, members of the probation office will host a Big Heart Bash at Wick’s Pizza along State Street beginning at 4 p.m.
Admission to the bash is $5.
Mayoral hopeful hosting fundraiser
Jack Messer, independent candidate for mayor of New Albany, is hosting a cornhole tournament as a fundraiser Sunday. The tourney begins at 2 p.m.
Team registration begins at 12:30 p.m. Hot dogs and chips will be free to participants and available to others for a small fee. The cost is $30 per team and each team will consist of two players. Payouts will go to first, second and third place teams.

VFW hosts weekend entertainment
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Hobart Beach Post 1693, 1919 Grant Line Road, New Albany, is now providing entertainment for the public from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
This week, Hub Cap Symphony will perform both nights while Judea & Urban will take the stage July 29-30.
From 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. July 31, the VFW will host a fish fry and from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 21, fried chicken and ham dinners will be offered.

Streets to close for car show
The Jeffersonville Board of Public Works approved the closure of two streets and issued a no parking order for the Cruisin’ with the Monarchs Car Show from 3 to 11 p.m. Friday.
The thoroughfares are: Riverside Drive from Clark Street to Locust Street and Spring Street from Riverside Drive to the floodwall.
Auditions set for ‘Talent’
Spirit Over The Water Productions is holding auditions for “Kentuckiana’s Got Talent” at 1:30 p.m. July 30 at Simmonds’ Performing Arts, 2101 Woodland Court, in Jeffersonville.
The shows are Aug. 26 and 27 on RiverStage docked at the end of Spring Street in Jeffersonville. All ages and styles of acts are welcome.

CLARK COUNTY
River Sweep set for Saturday
Volunteers are needed to help clean up the banks of the Ohio River on Saturday in Clark County.
Check-in stations will open at 9 a.m. at: Falls of the Ohio State Park, Ashland Park, George Rogers Clark Homesite and Lapping Park in Clarksville. Volunteers are provided with gloves, trash bags, bottled water, a free T-shirt and free admission to the Falls of the Ohio Interpretive Center that day. The cleanup lasts until noon.

Tea Party to meet next week
The Clark County Tea Party invites the public to the group’s next meeting at 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Silver Creek Middle School, 495 N. Indiana Ave., Sellersburg.
The speaker will be Les Naiman, former host of the “Voice of Liberty” radio show.

Weight loss meeting coming up
The Center for Comprehensive Weight Loss at Saint Catherine Regional Hospital, Charlestown, will host its bi-monthly support group for patients and their families who have gone through weight loss surgery. The group will meet at 6 p.m. July 28 in their office at 2100 Market St., Building 200, Suite 202 in Charlestown.
Jamie Teagardner from the center will present topics important to weight loss surgery patients for dealing with post surgical concerns. Patients who are also considering weight loss surgery are invited to attend.

Church parish hosting yard sale
St. Joe Hill annual Parish Yard Sale is scheduled for Aug. 5 and Aug. 6. Time for both days will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Yard Sale will be in air-conditioned comfort at the St. Joe Hill Parish Hall, 2605 St. Joe Road West, Sellersburg.
All Proceeds are to benefit St. Joseph Hill Catholic Church.
