CLARKSVILLE —
A New Albany man was charged Monday with robbing another man at gunpoint outside Courtyard Square Apartments in Clarksville.
Maurice O. Mason, 24, was arrested Thursday for allegedly pointing a pistol at a 27-year-old man from Clarksville and demanding his wallet, according to a Clarksville Police Department report.
The alleged victim said Mason approached him at about 6:45 p.m. and kept saying, “Come here.” The victim said no, and that is when Mason raised his shirt and showed a pistol.
The 27-year-old continued to resist as the man demanded his wallet. Mason then pointed the pistol at him, according to the report. When he said he had no money, Mason allegedly hit him in the head with the pistol. He then left the scene, dropping the pistol on the ground, according to police.
Clarksville Police Department officers located Mason in the neighborhood and ordered him to stop. He fled the area, leading police on a foot pursuit. The alleged victim identified Mason as the man who tried to rob him.
Mason is charged with class B felony armed robbery and class A misdemeanor resisting law enforcement.
