NEW ALBANY —
A Southern Indiana woman was killed in a traffic collision in New Albany on Wednesday night.
Sherry Webb, 51, of Milltown, died at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services about 10:38 p.m. said Floyd County Sheriff’s Department Maj. Jeff Topping.
Webb was not wearing her seat belt and was ejected from her 1991 Ford Escort during the two-vehicle accident on Grant Line Road and Interstate 265 about 10:09 p.m., Topping said.
Webb was the only occupant in her vehicle when the accident occurred.
Topping said Webb was traveling northbound on Grant Line Road and had turned left onto the I-265 westbound ramp where she is believed to have pulled in front of a 2006 Ford Mustang driven by Charles Mathieson, 20, of Georgetown, who was traveling southbound on Grant Line Road.
Mathieson was also taken to the hospital, Topping said, but was not believed to have been injured during the incident.
Webb’s vehicle was struck on the passenger side, Topping said, adding that witnesses told authorities Mathieson had the right of way.
The Combined Accident Reconstruction Team was called to investigate the accident, Topping said, and it appears alcohol was not a contributing factor.
