NEW ALBANY —
A Sellersburg store is closed after a Ford F-150 pickup truck crashed into a building Saturday night.
Erik Schwartz, 36, of Sellersburg, was hospitalized after driving into the corner of Cherokee Trader Antiques on U.S. 31 at 10:22 p.m., Sellersburg Police Chief Russ Whelan said.
Schwartz rear-ended another vehicle and then veered off into the building. Whelan said Schwartz did not realize he was involved in an accident. There was no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved, and police believe there was some type of medical condition, possibly a seizure.
Schwartz was bleeding from the mouth and nose and possibly suffered a head injury. His condition was not available late Monday, but Whelan said the injuries did not appear very serious.
Whelan said the fire chief told him the building sustained “severe structural damage.” No one else was injured, and the other vehicle only sustained minor damage.
