Huber farm hosting Halloween event

Visit the Joe Huber Family Farm and Restaurant, 2421 Engle Road, Borden, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28 for Trick or Treat on the Farm.

There will be lots of candy on hand for the kids. A costume contest will be held at 3 p.m. in front of the barnyard silo.



NEW ALBANY

City hosting holiday events

The city of New Albany will be holding a trunk-or-treat event starting at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the east parking lot of the Riverfront Amphitheater.

A coloring contest, judged by Mayor Jeff Gahan, Police Chief Sherri Knight, and Fire Chief Matt Juliot also will be held.

Registration for the coloring contest opens at 5:30 with the start of the event, and closes at 7 p.m., with judging to follow. Blow-up bounce items will also be on hand, as well as fire trucks and police cars for the children to explore.

After the Halloween activities conclude, the party will rotate to the Riverfront Amphitheater at 7:45 p.m. for a free showing of the 2004 movie “Monster House.” Food and beverage vendors will be on hand.



JEFFERSONVILLE

Crashers to play ‘Haunted Prom’

Jeffersonville’s Nachand Fieldhouse, 601 E. Court Ave., will be the site of “Monster Crash 2: The Haunted Prom.” Things get under way at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 as The Crashers take the stage.

Tickets can be purchased at all Mom’s Music locations including the store at 1710 E. 10th Street in Jeffersonville. Ticket cost is $20 for general admission. You must be 21 to purchase a ticket. The Sheraton Louisville Riverside and the Holiday Inn Lakeview are offering rooms at a special discount rate for people attending the show with free shuttle service to and from the fieldhouse.



City removes political signs

The city of Jeffersonville has removed political signs placed on city property.

Street Commissioner David Hosea said the signs were not thrown away and can be picked up by the candidates at the city garage off Renfroe Way.

However, if political signs are placed on city property, they will be removed.



NEW ALBANY

Diapers needed for triplets

A local teacher is attempting to help her friends garner diapers for their newly born triplets.

Jenna Vigar, a first-grade teacher at Mount Tabor Elementary School in New Albany, is accepting diaper donations for her friends, Jenn and Corey Schroeder.

The couple recently brought home their triplets from the hospital, and Vigar said that more than 700 diapers a month can be needed for the children. Anyone interested in donating diapers is asked to drop them off at 1201 Lexington Drive, which is the home of Vigar’s parents house.

Caregivers invited to event

Southern Indiana caregivers are invited to a free event designed to provide encouragement and strength for the often difficult job of caring for older adults at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at Graceland Baptist Church, 3600 Kamer-Miller Road, New Albany.

The featured speaker will be Lori Hogan, author of “Strength for the Moment” and co-founder of Home Instead Senior Care.



GEORGETOWN

Lions host chili cook-off, sale

The second annual chili cook-off and bake sale of the Georgetown Lions Club will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, next to Magdalena’s at 1108 Copperfield Commons in Georgetown.

The cost is $5 for adults for all-you-can-eat chili which includes hot dogs, drinks and deserts.

Judging will be conducted by members of the Georgetown Fire Department. Homemade baked goodies will also be available.   

Proceeds go back into projects that will impact the community. The Lions give free eye screening at schools, daycares and health fairs.



CHARLESTOWN

Tunnell Mill hosting bazaar

The Tunnel Mill Tigers 4-H Club’s annual Christmas bazaar will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Clark County 4-H Fairgrounds, 9608 Ind. 62, Charlestown.

Sorority holding holiday auction

Theta Iota Chapter of Phi Beta Psi Sorority in Sellersburg will host a holiday auction at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at Silver Creek Middle School cafeteria, U.S. 31, Sellersburg.

Proceeds will be donated to cancer research. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
