HENRYVILLE —
A Southern Indiana logger has died after a tree fell on him while he was working.
Danny Shelton, 48, of Deputy, died at the scene from blunt-force trauma, said Clark County Coroner Edwin "Huck" Coots. Clark County Sheriff Danny Rodden said the tree fell on Shelton about 2:45 p.m. Rodden said Shelton and another man were working near Dietleman and Henryville-Otisco Road for a contracting company out of Deputy.
Rodden said as the tree was coming down, a gust of wind caused a branch to fall onto Shelton and pushed him into the path of the falling tree.
Clark County Sheriff’s deputies and members of the Monroe Township Volunteer Firefighters removed Shelton’s body from under the tree about 5:30 p.m., Rodden said.
