> SOUTHERN INDIANA — JEFFERSONVILLE
Award-winning ArchiCamp offered
Indiana Landmarks and the Howard Steamboat Museum will offer a two-day ArchiCamp for children ages 8 to 12 from July 18 to 19 at the Howard Steamboat Museum. Participants spend both days — from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. — discovering the history of Jeffersonville and its landmark architecture.
Campers will travel back in time to the 19th century when they tour the Howard Steamboat Museum and the surrounding neighborhood, try their hand at using historic tools and play steamboat-related games. There will be plenty of hands-on activities, including model building and a scavenger hunt.
This is the second year for the Jeffersonville ArchiCamp. Winner of a prestigious award from the American Association for State and Local History, ArchiCamps encourage children to use their imaginations and powers of observation while teaching them about history, architecture and renovation.
Cost of the camp is $30 and includes refreshments, educational materials and souvenirs. Campers should bring a sack lunch both days. Enrollment for the camp is limited to 20 children. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available. Reservations must be made by July 11.
