NEW ALBANY —
Two people face numerous drug charges following their arrests Monday in New Albany.
At about noon Monday, FLEX officers with the New Albany Police Department went to an apartment in the 100 block of Fischer Drive in the Broadmeade public housing facility to investigate reported drug activity at the residence, according to Maj. Keith Whitlow with NAPD. When the officers arrived, they met with the apartment’s resident, James Alan Davenport, 45. During the initial investigation, the officers saw marijuana inside the apartment and as the investigation proceeded, they discovered methamphetamine and substances and paraphernalia associated with the drug’s manufacture, Whitlow said.
Davenport was arrested on the preliminary charges of dealing in methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a family housing unit, a class A felony; possession of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a family housing unit, a class B felony; having an illegal drug lab, a class C felony; and maintaining a common nuisance, a class D felony.
A second person at the residence when FLEX officers arrived, Nicole C. Hall, 19, of the 300 block of Erni Avenue in New Albany, was preliminarily charged with possession of marijuana, a class A misdemeanor, and visiting a common nuisance, a class B misdemeanor.
