JEFFERSONVILLE —
A Jeffersonville man accused of burning and beating his 4-year-old son is in the Clark County Jail being held on a $250,000 cash-only bond.
Logan Wallace Sr., 34, faces nine counts of battery and six counts of neglect of a dependent. The alleged abuse took place from June 14 to June 25 while the 4-year-old and his 11-year-old brother visited him.
Jeffersonville Police officers responded to Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville on June 25. The 4-year old had bruises on his buttocks and lower extremities, as well as burn marks on his chest and genitals, according to a police report.
The boys’ mother said she saw bruises on the 4-year-old’s right cheek after returning home from their father’s house alone on a TARC bus. A CT scan of the boy June 26 also showed lacerations on his liver.
According to the report, Wallace admitted to beating him with a belt, backhanding him and burning him.
Wallace had an initial hearing Friday. Circuit Court Judge Daniel Moore entered a not-guilty plea on behalf of Wallace and set a trial date for Nov. 13.
Wallace faces eight class B felonies, one class C felony and six class D felonies. B-level felonies carry up to 20 years in prison, C-level felonies carry up to eight years in prison and D-level felonies carry up to three years in prison — each with the possibility of a fine up to $10,000.
