JEFFERSONVILLE —
There were no surprises in the Clark County Commissioners’ races for District 1 and District 2.
Incumbent Democratic Commissioners Ed Meyer, District 1 — representing Carr, Jeffersonville, Silver Creek and Wood Townships — and Les Young, District 2 — representing Union, Monroe and Charlestown (precincts 1 through 6 and 8) Townships — were unopposed in the primary election.
Meyer received 4,182 votes and Young received 4,009 votes.
In the Republican primary, challengers Rick Stephenson, District 1, and Jack Coffman, District 2, also were unopposed.
They received 4,785 votes and 4,851, respectively. About 1,300 more Republican ballots were cast than Democratic ones in the primary.
Meyer and Stephenson are set to square off for the District 1 seat in the November general election, while Coffman and Young will battle for the District 2 post. Election Day is Nov. 6.
