Exhibit at Carnegie Center in New Albany starts Friday

NEW ALBANY — The Carnegie Center for Art and History in New Albany presents the exhibition “Our House: Recent Works in Glass by Joel O’Dorisio,” on display starting today through July 28. Through the artworks in this exhibit, Joel O’Dorisio explores the relationship between his fascination with the inherent wonder of the natural landscape and the contrived beauty of the city.

The title of the exhibit references both the traditional meaning of “house” as a shelter and the concept of our environment as a “house.” O’Dorisio says, “Ultimately everything we consume is drawn from the earth. ‘Our House’ is an effort to relink the concept of environment and shelter in the digital age and start a conversation about how we view our place in the world.”

There will be an opening reception for this exhibit from 6-8 p.m. today.

Several events are planned in conjunction with Our House, including a family workshop to create hanging glass sculptures in July and two gallery talks with artist O’Dorisio. Sponsored by the Carnegie Center, Inc., all events are free and open to the public; however, please note those events that require preregistration. Call 812-944-7336 to register.
