Greater Clark County Schools’ teachers have voted in favor of a contract that includes a 0.75 percent raise retroactive to July 1, 2009, according to Nick Wiese, president of the teachers’ association.
The teachers’ last contract ended June 30.
Wiese said 205 teachers showed up among the three voting sites at the district’s high schools Monday night to vote. He said 79 percent voted in favor.
“I think it’s a good thing,” Wiese said. “We can move on and work on other things, like Race to the Top and what we do best, which is teaching.”
The contract is set to be voted on tonight by the school board, which has to approve it before it is finalized.
The two-year contract doesn’t include any raise for the 2010-2011 school year, but it will open back up for negotiations on pay as well as some contract language changes, Wiese said.
