CLARK COUNTY —
Greater Clark County Schools will offer kindergarten during the 2012-2013 school year at no cost to parents/guardians (does not apply to textbook rental fee). Elementary schools will begin accepting kindergarten registration forms on Monday, April 9 for students 5 years old on or before Aug. 1, 2012.
Parents/guardians may mail the completed form to their child’s school or deliver the form during school hours. Forms may also be turned in at the school’s Camp Kindergarten event.
Greater Clark County Schools will host Camp Kindergarten at all 12 elementary schools beginning in April. Camp Kindergarten is a fun and informative way for students and their parents to get a jump start on preparations for entering kindergarten in August. Registration for Camp Kindergarten is required.
Parents/guardians must contact their neighborhood elementary school to register and may do so from now until one week prior to the school’s Camp Kindergarten event. Each child may bring one or two adults, but please do not bring siblings.
The main goal of Camp Kindergarten is to provide parents with information about the skills and knowledge that are most important for children as they first enter school. School staff members will provide parents with ideas about what they can do during the summer months to help their child develop or improve on these skills and knowledge to ensure their child has a successful start to their school career. Students and parents will be served a meal and special activities will be provided for the children such as a tour of the school building, story time, an art project and a short ride on a school bus.
Camp Kindergarten will be on the following dates:
• Bridgepoint Elementary, 5:30 p.m., Thursday, May 10
• New Washington Elementary, 6 p.m., Thursday, May 10
• Utica Elementary, 5:50 p.m., Monday, May 14
