NEW ALBANY —
A New Albany man faces felony charges after he was arrested by city police officers in the 300 block of Erni Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. Tuesday, on arrest warrants issued in Floyd County.
Michael S. Cecil, who gave his address as being in the 700 block of West Seventh Street in New Albany, is in the Floyd County Jail pending further disposition on charges of alleged possession of a controlled substance, use of a legend drug, possession of marijuana, and visiting a common nuisance. He also is charged with a single count of theft, a class D felony.
Lanesville man arrested on 30 counts of prescription drug charges
James P. Kost, 52, of Geswein Road in Lanesville, was arrested Tuesday at his residence on a warrant issued out of Floyd County Superior Court for prescription drug related charges.
The Indiana State Police began an investigation in late October of 2008, after receiving information from an Ohio probation officer about suspected fraudulent prescription drug activity in Floyd County by Kost. The information led officers to a pharmacy in Floyd County where Kost was allegedly taking stolen prescriptions from a Columbus, Ohio, physician’s office to obtain oxycontin, duragesic patches and hydrocodone. It was discovered that Kost had allegedly been engaged in this activity since 2007.
Kost was incarcerated in the Floyd County Jail on a $75,000 cash bond. He was officially charged with forgery, class C felony, [10 counts], obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or deceit, class D felony, [10 counts], and possession of a controlled substance, class D felony, [10 counts].
Man faces felony marijuana charge
A New Albany man faces a felony marijuana possession charge and a misdemeanor traffic charge after he was arrested by a member of the department’s FLEX unit at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday afternoon, near the intersection Vincennes and East Spring streets.
Jonathon Lee Caudill, 19, who gives his address as being in the 1500 block of East Elm Street in New Albany, was arrested after the officer allegedly found him in possession of marijuana and also learned he was wanted on a misdemeanor traffic warrant issued in Floyd County charging him with operating a vehicle without a license.
Caudill was booked into the Floyd County jail where he will await further disposition.

Councilman John Gonder said he supports a system that would allow the city to cap sewer credits for low-income housing and give preference to the New Albany Housing Authority.
