NEW ALBANY —
A woman suffered several stab wounds, and another faces aggravated battery charges following an altercation Thursday afternoon in New Albany.
Police were called to an apartment in the 200 block of Mitchell Drive around 3 p.m. Thursday to investigate a disturbance. When they arrived, they found 33-year-old Facrecia B. Roberson, of the 600 block of East Jefferson Street in Louisville, bleeding from stab wounds to her left arm and hand, according to a release from New Albany Police Department Maj. Keith Whitlow.
Officers also found 25-year-old Keia M. Roddie with minor facial injuries.
The police investigation revealed that the two women apparently became involved in an argument inside the apartment that turned violent. During the incident, Roddie allegedly stabbed Roberson with a knife and Roddie sustained facial injuries. Police suspect that damaged property belonging to Roddie found inside the apartment may have led to the altercation.
Roberson was taken to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment of her wounds, which are serious but not life-threatening.
Roddie was arrested at the scene on a preliminary charge of aggravated battery, a class B felony. She was booked into the Floyd County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing, according to Whitlow, and other charges may be filed.
