JEFFERSONVILLE —
Businesses in downtown Jeffersonville are celebrating Small Business Saturday on Nov. 24.
Many large national chain stores see huge business on Black Friday and online sales spike on Cyber Monday, so in 2010 American Express came up with the idea to start Small Business Saturday to help small businesses get some of the holiday shopping dollars.
“Small Business Saturday is a great opportunity for people to support the local businesses in downtown Jeffersonville,” said Jay Ellis, executive director of Jeffersonville Main Street Inc. in a news release. “The next five weeks are a critical time for small independent businesses, and we hope people will come downtown to shop and enjoy its festive spirit.”
Carolers will be strolling the sidewalks from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, and in addition to shopping or dining in downtown, people can enjoy the holiday lights and the ice rink. A list of downtown business can be found at JeffMainStreet.org/buy-local
Other events include: candy canes will be made from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Schimpff’s Confectionery, 347 Spring St.; Visit with Santa from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at MultiMediaMix/The Clipper Barbershop, 248 Spring St.
Bring little ones to visit with Santa and share their Christmas wish list. Pictures will be taken and available on Facebook (with parent/guardian permission).
