JEFFERSONVILLE —
Road closures continue as work moves forward on Utica Pike and Allison Lane.
An updated closure plan was presented to Jeffersonville’s Board of Public Works Wednesday morning by Chris Jackson, project manager with Dan Cristiani Excavating Co. Inc.
“We’re actually going to finish up on Allison Lane on Wednesday of next week,” he said.
But before the road is repaved and reopened there are likely to be traffic delays early next week as construction crews will need to shut down the intersection of Utica Pike and Allison Lane.
Beyond Wednesday, Jackson said Allison Lane will be open and will be able to be used as a detour around closures on Utica Pike.
“We’re trying to get Allison Lane opened up before we close down too much of Utica Pike,” he said.
Utica Pike will close in stages from Longview Drive to Allison Lane from Monday, Jan. 14 to Feb. 15. A detour around the closures will run along Longview Drive, to Beechwood Road, to Regina and Virginia avenues, which reconnects with Utica Pike.
In addition, closures along Allison Lane from Utica Pike, past McBride Drive are set to be in effect until Wednesday, Jan. 16.
System upgrade
A contract for an upgrade to the city’s financial and utility billing system was also approved Wednesday.
City Controller Monica Harmon presented the contract with BS&A Software for approval, which had previously been approved and had money dedicated from the Jeffersonville City Council, the Sewer Board and Drainage Board.
The new financial and utility billing system includes equipment upgrades, a new server and 39 new work stations. The total cost of the proposal was approved at $605,400 and includes $50,000 for an outside consultant to manage the installation of the new software.
A contract with Umbaugh and Associates Inc. to act as the consultant to assist with the system transition of up to $50,000 was also presented.
Both contracts were unanimously agreed to, subject to legal review.
Crystal Springs lights
A petition to install street lights in the Crystal Springs subdivision, which was approved at previous board of public works meeting contingent upon the review of the city attorney, was reviewed and the city will move forward with the light installations.
Historic landmarks
An agreement for professional services with Indiana Landmarks was approved for 2013.
The contract totals $4,000 in two installment due in March and August, respectively. The contract was unanimously approved and the funding is set to come out of the city council budget.
Procedure update
An update in the standard operating procedures management rights and responsibilities for the Jeffersonville Fire Department were approved at Wednesday’s meeting.
The policies will be posted for 10 days for review in the city’s fire stations.
“They will be posted starting today,” said Jeffersonville Fire Chief Eric Hedrick.
