New Albany Police looking for suspect in shooting

25-year-old shot in face; injuries do not appear life-threatening

NEW ALBANY — A New Albany man entered a convenience store about 9 p.m. Tuesday after he was shot in the face.

New Albany police did not release the name of the 25-year-old victim or his address as of press time.

The man walked into Zack’s Food Mart, located at 1223 Bono Road, and told a clerk that he had been shot and to call police.

Police received the report of the shooting about 8:50 p.m.

New Albany Police Maj. Keith Whitlow said evidence has been collected from two areas where the shooting may have occurred, including a location near the convenience store and nearby the New Albany Housing Authority Parkview-Broadmeade property.

Whitlow said the investigation is ongoing and where the shooting occurred or the motive of the shooter remains undetermined.

After police arrived on the scene, officers discovered the man had been shot in the face.

The shooting victim was taken to Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services for treatment, New Albany police reported.

Police said his current condition is unknown, but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Witnesses that were near the food mart at the time of the incident reported hearing shots being fired and seeing a man running from the scene, police reported.

Whitlow said no suspects have been identified as of press time.
