JEFFERSONVILLE —
Eighth Street in Jeffersonville will be closed at the intersection with Hopkins Lane through Friday as sewer repairs are being completed. Hopkins lane is just east of Perrin Lane.
Jeffersonville’s Board of Public Works and Safety approved the closure during a Wednesday morning meeting. Wastewater Department Director Len Ashack said a connection needs to be run between two manholes in the area. The work will block off the entire street, not just one lane.
NEW CLEANING CONTRACT
The board approved a new cleaning contract with RT Solutions for City Hall and the Jeffersonville Fire Department headquarters’ administrative areas. The company will be paid $4,350 per month for cleaning city hall and $50 per week for the fire department work. RT Solutions was the lowest of two bidders.
LAWSUIT THREAT FROM BUTTONWOOD
Engineering Director Rick Lovan said he’d heard from a resident in Buttonwood threatening a lawsuit if the city doesn’t tear down a home it condemned there last year. The home was once owned by former Greater Clark School Board member Robbie Valentine, though Bank of America owns it now. City councilwoman Connie Sellers said there’s water damage throughout the home, which led to its condemnation.
No action was taken on the issue. City attorney Les Merkley said he would research the property to find out the status of the condemnation and ownership.
LITTLE LEAGUE PARADE
The board approved street closures for the annual Jeff/GRC Little League Parade on Spring Street and Court Avenue. The parade is at 9 a.m. Saturday.
