Henry Lee Summer hitting RiverStage
Henry Lee Summer will headline a Sept. 18 concert at RiverStage, located in the 100 block of West Riverside Drive, that will also feature The Louisville Crashers and Jimmy G and the Sidewinders, according to a press release from the city of Jeffersonville.
Summer, a native of Brazil, Ind., cracked the Billboard Hot 100 Top 20 in the 1980s with “I Wish I Had A Girl” and “Hey Baby.”
Gates open at 5 p.m. and the show begins at 6 p.m. There is an $8 per person cover charge for this concert.

City Pride hosts River Breeze event
River Breeze, a wine tasting event, sponsored by City Pride, Jeffersonville’s beautification committee, will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday on RiverStage, located at the foot of Spring Street at Riverside Drive, Jeffersonville.
The event is open to adults 21 and over. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door and are available at the mayor’s office at City Hall, 500 Quartermaster Court. Call 812-285-6400 for more information on the event.

City to host Music in the Park concert
Charlestown Parks and Recreation will host The Wulfe Bros. from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in Greenway Park, Ind. 3, Charlestown.
The Wulfe Bros. provide family entertainment, playing tunes from the 1950s to the ‘80s, and mixing in a little from the ‘90s and today’s music.
Parks concessions open at 5 p.m. with grilled pork chop sandwiches, chili dogs, nachos, popcorn and $1 rootbeer floats. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to this fun, free family event.

Clarksville theater presents ‘Gypsy’
Clarksville Little Theatre will present, “Gypsy,” at 8 p.m. Sept. 10, 11, 16-18 and at 1 p.m. Sept. 12 at the theatre, 301 E. Montgomery Ave., Clarksville.
This classic musical is being directed by Debra Rice Endris.
Tickets are $15 for adults; $12 for seniors ages 60 and over, and students ages 13-18; $8 for children ages 6-12 and free for children under 6, who can sit on a lap and do not require a separate seat ($8 if a separate seat is required). The box office accepts cash or checks.

Rock The Rocks benefits Falls
The Falls of the Ohio Foundation announced its sixth-annual Rock The Rocks fundraising event from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Falls of the Ohio State Park Interpretive Center, Clarksville.
Proceeds will benefit the foundation’s Crossroads Campaign for New Exhibits. The feature act will be Jeffersonville native Sonny Lemaire and Friends and his Exile cohorts Also, J.P. Pennington and Steve Goetzman will be performing along with Clay Mills — co-writer with Sonny of hits by Restless Heart, Diamond Rio and Darius Rucker.
Early in the evening the Jamey Aebersold Jazz Quartet will play featuring New Albany native Jamey Aebersold, an internationally known saxophonist and authority on jazz improvisation and education.
Dinner will be provided by Bristol Bar & Grille Catering, with bourbon tasting by Jim Beam Brands Co., handcrafted beers from New Albanian Brewing Co. as well as a silent auction and raffle, fossil bed hike, bird watching and viewing of the Interpretive Center exhibits. Dress is casual.

Clark Memorial raising money
Team members of Clark Memorial Hospital are hosting two fundraising events to benefit the American Heart Association’s 2010 Start! Kentuckiana Heart Walk, beginning with an afternoon of live music at 3 p.m. Sunday at Stevie Ray’s Blues Bar, 230 E. Main St., Louisville.
Local bands are donating their performances to the cause and include The King Bees, Clay St. Blues Allstars and The Clark Band. The cost per person is $5 at the door. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. All food and door proceeds will benefit the American Heart Association.
The second event will be a night of rock ‘n’ roll classics with The Clark Band at 6 p.m. Sept. 16 at Bearno’s in Jeffersonville The cost is $15 per person and tickets are available in advance or at the door.

The Clark Band, featured at both events, is a collection of Clark Memorial employees who have both a passion for health care and a love of music. Board chair: Parks district best solution for New Albany and Floyd County
Mayor Jeff Gahan’s veto of a new parks deal between the city and county was upheld earlier this month by the New Albany City Council. While the Floyd County Council agreed to still pay an additional $100,000 toward the parks department for the remainder of the year, the city and county remain under a prior agreement that led to funding discrepancies in the past.
