NEW ALBANY —
Two New Albany residents arrested after a methamphetamine lab was found in a residence near an elementary school have been identified.
Amber M. Cook, 26, and Steven D. Timberlake, 27, of the 1300 block of Culbertson Avenue in New Albany, were arrested for dealing methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and possession of precursors. Official charges have not yet been filed.
New Albany Police Chief Todd Bailey said an active methamphetamine lab was discovered as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation. He said the fire department was called to the scene as a precaution, and the Indiana State Police meth suppression team also arrived to clean up the scene. There were also reports of smoke coming from the residence.
“There was no public safety risk to anybody outside the house,” Bailey said. “Though a methamphetamine laboratory is dangerous, we are glad to have it mitigated with no injuries and those responsible behind bars.”
