INDIANAPOLIS —
Maria Granger, Floyd County Superior Court No. 3 judge, is one of 15 applicants for the upcoming Indiana Supreme Court vacancy. The seat will become vacant upon Chief Justice Randall T. Shepard’s retirement in March.
After a series of interviews by the Judicial Nominating Commission Feb. 8 and 9 at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, semifinalists will be chosen and interviewed Feb. 22. Those names will be made public. Then, a list of three finalists will be sent to Gov. Mitch Daniels and he will select the next justice within 60 days of getting the list.
The commission will then select the new chief justice to replace Shepard.
Granger was elected in November 2008 and took office of the newly created Floyd Superior Court No. 3 in 2009.
