Donate your pennies today

Bring pennies or other loose change to the Hosparus Southern Indiana Pennies from Heaven Round Up Reception from 11 a.m. to  5 p.m., Wednesday, May 2 at the New Albany site, 624 E. Market St.

If you don’t want to carry all those pennies, Hosparus will accept a check. At the reception, Hosparus staff members and volunteers will serve refreshments and count coins. Or, call 812-542-2809 and a Hosparus staff member or volunteer will pick up your donation. Proceeds benefit Hosparus Southern Indiana patients and their families.

For more than 30 years, Hosparus, a fully accredited nonprofit hospice organization, has provided care, comfort and counseling for people facing life-limiting illnesses in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. SMK planning KnobsFest

Planning for the second-annual St. Mary of the Knobs KnobsFest in under way.

The event is scheduled for June 9 on the church grounds. There will be several events that day including live entertainment, vendor booths, a KIDS ZINE, pony rides and Bingo. This year, a Miss KnobsFest will be crowned along with a Lil’ Miss and Master pageant.

Registration for Miss KnobsFest is $50 and contestants must be in grades nine through 12. Registration fee for Lil’ Miss and Master is $20 and contestants must be between 3 to 6 years old before June 1. Contestants will be judged on interview and formal attire.

Each contestant must go to www.stmaryoftheknobs.org for application, release form and registration information. Deadline for entry is May 23. Registration forms can be mailed to: St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church-KNOBFES, Att: Melissa Sprigler, 3033 Martin Road, Floyds Knobs, IN, 47110.





CLARKSVILLE

Town council holding meetings

The Clarksville Town Council will hold two meetings Monday night, May 7. A regular meeting of the council begins at 7 p.m., followed by a workshop at 7:30 p.m. Both meetings take place at Clarksville Town Hall, 2000 Broadway.



JEFFERSONVILLE

Free items available to low income

Eastside Christian Church, 2319 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, will host a “Freemarket” for low-income families in the area from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5. Families can come and receive clothes and other items at no cost. The doors will open at 9 a.m.



Church offering Zumba

First Christian Church in Jeffersonville invites the community to Zumba yourself into great shape every Thursday.

For information regarding Zumba Fitness, call 812- 282-1278 or just show up at the Grace Center at 3209 Middle Road (entrance behind FCC) for class at 6:30 p.m. any Thursday. Cost per person is $5. Bring a yoga mat or something similar (not required). Guests may try one class for free.
