NA-FC Shelter waives cat adoption fees
Beginning last week, the New Albany-Floyd County Animal Shelter will waive fees on the first 20 adult cats adopted with a $10 cash donation. Also, the 12 Strays of Christmas Cats will remain free until they are adopted.
Adoption hours are noon to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Regular adoption fees are $20 for cats, $60 for kittens and $80 for dogs and puppies.

FMH weight center hosts Facebook photo contest
In honor of New Year’s resolutions and the need to get fit, the Floyd Memorial Weight Management Center is holding its first Facebook “Best Before/After Photo” contest.
Anyone 18 or older can participate for a chance to win a $100 Kohl’s gift card and $50 in Health Management Resources products. Photos should be submitted at the same time in order to appear together.

DePauw hosting tailgate dinner
DePauw Methodist Church, 925 Vincennes St., across from New Albany High School, will host a tailgate dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, prior to New Albany’s home basketball game.
The menu will include Italian sausage, pasta, salad, green beans, dessert and a drink. The price is $7 for adults and $3 for children 6 to 12 years old. Children 5 and younger eat free.

Relay for Life meeting Jan. 8
Clark County Relay For Life will be May 17, at Charlestown High School, 1 Pirate Place, Charlestown. The survivor lap will begin at 7 p.m.
Relay Team Rally meetings will be at 6 p.m. at Jeffersonville Township Public Library, Large Conference Room, 211 E. Court Ave., Jeffersonville.
Meeting dates are: Tuesday, Jan. 8, Tuesday, Feb. 12, Tuesday, March 12, Tuesday, April 9.
JEFFERSONVILLE
K of C hosting chicken dinner
The Knights of Columbus, 225 E. Market St., Jeffersonville, will sponsor an all-you-can-eat chicken dinner from 6 to 8 p.m., Jan. 11, at the K of C Hall.
The menu will be chicken, green beans, macaroni and cheese, potatoes and gravy, slaw, drink and dessert is $8.
A large portion of the proceeds will be given to Father Tom for the Haiti Disaster Relief Fund.

Archaeological society to meet
The Falls of the Ohio Archaeological Society meeting will be at 2 p.m., Jan. 12, at the Falls of the Ohio Interpretive Center, 201 W. Riverside Dr., Clarksville.
Mindi Wetzel, staff archaeologist for Corn Island Archaeology, will present information the firm’s investigations at Colson Park in Jeffersonville. Records indicated the site was originally the Old City Cemetery, which was confirmed by their excavations.

Rose Island to present Shakespeare
Rose Island’s production of “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare” will be Jan. 25, 26, 27 and Feb. 1 and 2, at the Charlestown Arts and Enrichment Center, 999 Water St., Charlestown. Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Special “Dinner-and-a-Show” tickets are available for the Jan. 26 and Feb. 1 performances. The dinner before the show will be provided by the Charlestown Senior Citizens and will be served at 6 p.m. Ticket prices for the “Dinner-and-a-Show” option are $25. Tickets for the show only are $10 for non-members, $9 for members, and $8 for groups of 10 or more and for students with valid school identification.

However, reservations are required for the “Dinner-and-a-Show” performances and need to be made by Jan. 18.
