JEFFERSONVILLE —
River Ridge Development Authority continues to host visits from businesses interested in locating at the former Indiana Army Ammunition Plant site and prepare its infrastructure to handle new businesses.
“We’ve had a couple more inquiries,” said River Ridge Executive Director Jerry Acy. “Activity seems to be picking up.”
While he said River Ridge continues to field calls from potential tenants, there have been no deals finalized and Acy declined to comment on the businesses that have visited the Commerce Center.
Acy added that infrastructure improvements continue to move forward in River Ridge as the second power plant on the 6,000-acre site has been demolished. The plant was on the north end of the Commerce Center in Charlestown. The first power plant was taken down in March. The plants are being cleared to turn the area into marketable land for investors.
At the River Ridge Development Authority Board meeting Monday, the board agreed to submit an Economic Development Administration Public Works Grant. The grant is being sought to extend Trey Street to River Ridge Circle north so the road can tie back to Ind. 62, Acy explained.
A contract with the Indiana Department of Transportation was also approved to conduct a traffic study to install a traffic signal. The signal is planned for Cox Street and Ind. 62.
