JEFFERSONVILLE —
A Jeffersonville teenager was arrested Wednesday for his alleged connection in a residential break-in that occurred in late July.
Denzel Lamar Ewing, 18, faces preliminary charges of burglary, a class C felony, and possession of stolen property, a class D felony.
Ewing’s arrest is the most recent step in Jeffersonville police’s investigation into a break-in and burglary of a home in the 900 block of Camelot Court where electronics and other items were stolen, Jeffersonville Police Detective Todd Hollis said.
Hollis said there was forced entry made into the home during the break-in.
Hollis said Jeffersonville police conducted a search warrant at Ewing’s home at 902 Sharon Drive on Wednesday afternoon.
Some of the property that was reported stolen from the burglarized home was discovered in Ewing’s home when police searched the residence, according to Hollis.
Police detained Ewing after the search was conducted and questioned him at the Jeffersonville Police Department.
After the interview, Ewing was charged.
Hollis said the investigation of the break-in is ongoing.
“The arrest of Mr. Ewing does not close the investigation,” Hollis said.
Ewing had an initial hearing scheduled for 11 a.m. today, in Clark County Circuit No. 1.
