Chicken Chase coming up
The Chicken Chase, a 4-mile run/walk through scenic Clark State Forest, will be Saturday, Sept. 15. The walk starts at 8:15 and the run begins at 8:30. Early registration by Sept. 4 is $16 for adults, $13 for youths 15 and younger and guarantees participants a T-shirt on race day.
Late registration cost after Sept. 4, is $20 for adults and youth.
Proceeds benefit the Henryville Dollars for Scholars fund.

Hunter education classes offered
Hunter education classes will be offered in September on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., at the Bass Pro Shops Theatre Room in Clarksville. Class dates are Sept. 11, 13, 18 and 20. Attendance at all sessions is mandatory. This program has no charge. Pre-registration is required and should be done by Sept. 10 by calling Bass Pro at 812-218-5500.

Learn to make pizza dough at the library
Join the Food for Thought Cookbook Group from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29. in the staff lounge of the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library.
Instructor Peggy Roberson will be teaching participants how to create pizza dough from scratch using six ingredients. Students will learn to mix and form a pizza crust that is sure to please any pizza lover. There will be samples to taste. Class size is limited, and registration is required. Steamboat Toastmasters Club Humorous Speech Contest will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at 1638 Production Road, Jeffersonville.

New Albany High School will host an open house beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.
The goal is to show all the things going on at New Albany, to show parents other services offered and to present opportunities for parents to assist the school.
Local church offering free tutoring
The Crossing Christian Church, formerly located at 3602 Northgate Court, Suite 9, New Albany, will offer free tutoring sessions to children grades kindergarten through 12th at its new location, 4025 Earnings Way, New Albany. Experienced adults and college students are ready to assist youth in the community who need extra help with study skills or with a particular subject. The sessions will be offered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m. at the church beginning Tuesday, Sept. 4.
