ISP increasing patrols for Labor Day weekend

SELLERSBURG — Indiana State Police will be participating in Operation C.A.R.E. — Combined Accident Reduction Effort — from today, Aug. 31, through Monday, Sept. 3.

Operation Pull Over has been in full swing since Aug. 17 and will continue through Monday as well. Additional troopers will be patrolling area roadways specifically looking for motorists who are drinking and driving, speeding, following too closely and driving aggressively. Troopers will also enforce all seat belt and child restraint violations.

Indiana State Police encourage all motorists to observe the following safety tips:

• Make sure you’re well rested before traveling.

• Make sure everyone is properly buckled up.

• Don’t tailgate and remember the two-second rule when following other vehicles.

• Obey all traffic signals and speed limits.

• Don’t drink and drive.

• When you see an emergency vehicle’s lights flashing, MOVE OVER and SLOW DOWN.
