JEFFERSONVILLE —
Greater Clark County Schools won a little extra cash from Indiana on Wednesday.
Tony Bennett, state superintendent of public instruction announced that the school corporation was awarded part of Indiana’s $5 million innovation fund grant competition. Greater Clark got $280,743.
“We received many quality applications, but those selected to receive funds this year demonstrated the best chance for short- and long-term effects on student success,” Bennett said in a news release. “In particular, this year’s recipients demonstrated a commitment to academic rigor, educator effectiveness and school improvement. I am eager to see the positive results for students brought about through these winning programs.”
The fund supports initiatives designed to improve student achievement and growth, according to the release. Greater Clark’s RISE Up Project, which is designed to increase educator effectiveness through the Indiana Teacher Evaluation Model, was cited as the program that helped the district win the money.
“This grant competition reflects well the new role of the state department of education,” Bennett said in a release. “Our mission is to set high expectations for schools and to hold them accountable for delivering results.”
