NEW ALBANY —
A man was arrested Wednesday after assaulting his 3-week-old child, New Albany police said.
Bobby McCutcheon, 42, of 1944 McDonald Ave. in New Albany, has been preliminarily charged by police with aggravated battery, a class C felony.
McCutcheon and his wife brought the child to Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services on Wednesday where an X-ray was performed, and the child was diagnosed with a spiral fracture in her right arm, New Albany Police Department Maj. Keith Whitlow said.
Because of the nature of the infant’s injury, medical staff contacted police.
Whitlow said the child’s parents claimed to have found the infant in distress and brought her to the hospital. An NAPD investigation revealed, however, probable cause to arrest McCutcheon.
Whitlow said because the Office of the Floyd County Prosecutor is reviewing the case, he did not want to provide too many details of the investigation.
McCutcheon has not been officially charged, but he is scheduled to appear in Floyd County Superior Court No. 1. for an initial hearing Monday, according to court officials.
