The New Albany Youth Basketball League, in its 15th year under New Albany High School boys’ basketball coach Jim Shannon, will have sign-ups on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 9-11 a.m. at the NAHS main gymnasium.
There is only room for 60 boys in grades 1-4 and 60 boys in grades 5-6. Upon enrolling, players and parents will receive a schedule of practices and games.

IUS unanimous pick to win KIAC
The IU Southeast men’s basketball team was the unanimous pick as the top team in the 2012-13 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference coaches’ poll that was released Thursday.
The Grenadiers received nine first-place votes and 81 total points. Last season, the Grenadiers won their fifth straight regular-season and conference tournament titles. They went on to capture the conference tournament and advanced to the NAIA national tournament.
IU Southeast is currently ranked sixth in the 2012-13 NAIA Division II men’s basketball coaches’ preseason Top 25 poll, which was released Tuesday.
Indiana University East sits in the second spot in the KIAC preseason poll with 71 points. The Red Wolves finished the 2011-12 regular season with an 11-2 conference record and advanced to the NAIA national tournament as an at-large selection.
Asbury University is third in the preseason poll with 63 points. Berea College and Alice Lloyd College are tied for the fourth spot with 41 points each. Brescia University is sixth with 38 points, followed by Point Park University (36 points), Cincinnati Christian University (22 points) and St. Louis College of Pharmacy (12 points).
Conference play will begin in late November. The season will conclude with the KIAC Tournament Feb. 21-26.

Grenadiers picked favorite to win KIAC title
The IU Southeast women’s basketball team was picked to finish first in the annual Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference coaches’ poll that was released Thursday.
The KIAC coaches tabbed the Grenadiers as the top team in the conference with seven first-place votes and 78 points. The Grenadiers finished the 2011-12 regular season with a 9-2 conference record. They went on to win their fourth straight regular-season and conference tournament titles and advanced to the NAIA national tournament.
Asbury sits in the second spot in the preseason poll with one first-place vote and 64 points. Point Park University is projected third with one first-place vote and 61 points. Alice Lloyd College is fourth with 50 points, followed by Brescia University (47 points), Berea College (38 points), Carlow University (33 points), Midway College (24 points) and St. Louis College of Pharmacy (10 points).
Conference play will begin in mid-November. The season will conclude with the KIAC Tournament Feb. 21-26.
