Will Kimmel records top-five in New Jersey
Sellersburg resident Will Kimmel displayed his road-course skills by finishing fifth in the ARCA Racing Series’ All-American 150 at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, N.J. It was the Kimmel Racing driver’s second top-five finish and his third top-10 of the season.
Kimmel’s uncle, nine-time ARCA champion Frank Kimmel, wound up seventh. The top-10 finish moved the Clarksville native up to third in the ARCA point standings.
“We did everything we could to make the car better,” Kimmel said. “The guys worked so hard on it all weekend. It seemed like we made it better in the race, and the more laps we ran, the better we got. We probably would have come out with a top five, but we got run off the course near the end and lost a ton of track position. It was a hot day and we made up as much as we could and came home with another solid finish.”
Andrew Ranger passed Chase Elliott, the son of former NASCAR champion Bill Elliott, on the last lap to win the All-American 150 for the second year in a row. Elliott ended up second, followed by Chris Buescher and Brandon Davis. Henryville resident Darrell Basham placed 23rd.
ARCA’s next race will be Friday, July 13 at Iowa Speedway.
