RAMSEY —
The Charlestown softball team built an early edge on Wednesday night, but North Harrison roared back to steal a 3-1 victory in eight innings in the Class 3A North Harrison Sectional semifinals.
North Harrison took the lead in the top of eighth on a wild pitch. Starting pitcher Alli Webster worked out of 12 tricky spots for Charlestown (22-5). She pitched eight innings and allowed three earned runs on six hits. Webster faced her toughest moment in the seventh inning.
Alyssa McAfee got the win for North Harrison (24-5). She pitched 2 2/3 shutout innings. McAfee struck out two, walked two and gave up two hits.
Charlestown scored its only run of the game on a groundout by Webster in the first inning.
North Harrison never surrendered the lead after the eighth, scoring two runs on an RBI single by Miranda Whelen and a wild pitch.
North Harrison advances to tonight’s championship game versus Salem, which defeated Brownstown in Wednesday’s first semifinal 5-4.
