All-HHC team announced
The Hoosier Hills Conference recently announced its all-conference team for the 2012 season.
The following area players made the squad: Tyler Fridley, Jeffersonville, senior, quarterback; Austin Hines, Jeff, junior, running back; Tuwan Payton, New Albany, junior, running back; Dionte Allen, Jeff, junior, tight end; Chaz Wolf, Floyd Central, senior, offensive lineman; Sherman Phillips, Jeff, senior, offensive lineman; Ricky Embry, Jeff, senior, wide receiver; Cory Grainger, New Albany, junior, defensive back; Derek Hughes, Jeff, senior, linebacker.
Area players receiving honorable-mention votes: Nick Uhl, Floyd Central, junior, running back; Nick Lynch, New Albany, senior, offensive lineman; Joe Wolf, Floyd Central, senior, offensive lineman; Ravon Wright, New Albany, junior, wide receiver; Tyler Kahl, Jeff, senior, defensive back; Joseph Simmons, Jeff, junior, defensive lineman; Dalton Adkins, Jeff, junior, defensive lineman; Damian McDuffy, New Albany, junior, defensive lineman; Marquil Hastings, New Albany, senior, linebacker.

Area players earn All-State honorable-mention votes
Two area girls’ soccer players and one area boys’ soccer player received honorable-mention votes for the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association All-State teams. The girls’ players were New Albany senior Tanner Marcum and Providence senior Leah Mattingly, while the area boys’ player getting All-State votes was Providence senior Pierce Crawley.
Each player received a plaque for getting honorable-mention status at the ISCA Showcase last weekend at North Central High School in Indianapolis. Marcum, Mattingly and Crawley also played in the showcase along with Providence girls’ player Kasey Wallace, Jeffersonville girls’ player Taylor Davis and Floyd Central girls’ player Lauren Wyatt.

Sparkman, Daniel compete in All-Star matches
Last Saturday at the Munciana Volleyball Complex in Yorktown, Clarksville junior Ali Sparkman and Providence junior Maile Daniel were teammates on the Class A-2A East Team No. 3 during the second annual POSTYOURT All-Star Volleyball Games.
Sparkman, Daniel and their teammates lost to the Class A-2A West Team No. 3, 25-14, 25-14, 22-25.
