Jeff’s O’Brien ends career at state finals
Jeffersonville senior Shea O’Brien concluded her high school career on Saturday by competing in the balance beam at the IHSAA State Finals at Ball State University’s Worthen Arena in Muncie.
O’Brien’s top score on the beam was an 8.375, as she did not place in the top six spots of the standings.
O’Brien finished second in the beam at the Columbus East Sectional on March 2, with her best score being a 9.0. At the Columbus East Regional on March 9, O’Brien earned a state finals berth by finishing third in the beam with a score of 8.825.

Jeff Inferno Classic
The Jeffersonville High School boys’ and girls’ track teams will host the Jeff Inferno Classic Track and Field Invitational April 6-7 at Blair Field. The meet will start at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 6, followed by the second and final day of the meet beginning at noon on Saturday, April 7.
The teams are currently selling advertising for the meet and seeking corporate and individual sponsors.
For $100, businesses can advertise on banners that are 3 feet by 5 feet and will hang on the Blair Field fence. For $50, businesses can advertise on yard signs that are 18 inches by 24 inches.
There are sponsorship opportunities on Inferno Classic T-shirts, the Feel the Burn 5K Road Race, the coaches’ hospitality room and the Inferno Classic meet program. Individual race sponsorships are $25 each.
Booth space also is being sold for the meet for $50 apiece.

Feel the Burn 5K
The Jeffersonville High School boys’ and girls’ track teams and the JHS Track and Field Booster Club will present the Feel the Burn 5K run/walk on Saturday, April 7, starting at 9 a.m. at Blair Field. The race will take place in conjunction with the Jeff Inferno Classic Track and Field Invitational April 6-7 at Blair Field.
The race is for all ages. The top three finishers in each age division (male and female) will receive awards. The top three overall male and female finishers will be rewarded as well.
Check-in and late registration will take place from 7:45-8:45 a.m. on April 7 at Blair Field. Participants will get a T-shirt and free admission to the Inferno Classic.
Registration fee is $20 per runner if paid by Wednesday, March 28. If runners register after the 28th, the fee is $25. All proceeds will benefit the Jeff High track teams, and the registration fees are non-refundable.

Pirate Pride All-Sports Recognition Dinner and Auction
The fifth annual Pirate Pride All-Sports Recognition Dinner and Auction will be on Sunday, April 22 in the auxiliary section of the Charlestown Sports Arena.
The event, sponsored by the Charlestown Pirate Pride Booster Club, will recognize student-athletes, coaches, staff and volunteers of all Charlestown High School sports and the Marching Band of Pirates.
Doors will open at 4 p.m. and dinner will be served starting at 5:30 p.m. The dinner will be catered by Schnitzelbank Restaurant in Jasper.
There will be silent and live auctions during the event. Tickets are $10 each, with kids ages 5 and under getting in free. All attendees are required to have a ticket for this event.
