NEW ALBANY —
Heather Wheat had 27 points to lead all scorers, but it was not enough as IU Southeast’s three-game winning streak came to an end with a 71-64 loss to Midway.
Ashmere Woods had another double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
The Grenadiers (10-8, 3-4 KIAC) shot just 33 percent (18-of-54) from the field and were only 2-of-15 from 3-point range.
Midway (6-12, 4-4 KIAC) jumped out to an 8-point lead early in the game and led 35-32 at the half. IU Southeast used a 13-4 run to get within two points with three minutes to play in the game, but they never got closer.
Four Eagles scored in double figures. Whitley Henry had 23, Erin Lucas had 11 and McKinzie Laswell and Star Armstrong each had 10 points.
IU Southeast is back in action on Saturday when it hosts Asbury at 6 p.m. in a doubleheader with the men’s team.
