Kimmels earn top-10 finishes at Talladega
Sellersburg resident Will Kimmel and his uncle, nine-time ARCA Racing Series champion Frank Kimmel, finished in the top 10 in last Friday’s International Motorsports Hall of Fame 250 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.
Will Kimmel drove his No. 68 Kimmel Racing Ford to a sixth-place finish, while Frank Kimmel, a Clarksville native, placed a spot behind him in seventh.
Brandon McReynolds, the son of former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series crew chief Larry McReynolds, won the race on the final lap. The younger McReynolds passed leader Matt Lofton on the outside to win by 0.195 seconds. Lofton ended up second after leading a race-high 55 laps.
Chad Hackenbracht placed third, followed by Tom Hessert and Steve Blackburn. Henryville resident Darrell Basham wound up 23rd.
Frank Kimmel is currently sixth in the ARCA point standings, 120 points behind point leader Brennan Poole. Will Kimmel is ninth, 180 points behind Poole.
ARCA’s next race will be Sunday, May 20 at Toledo (Ohio) Speedway.
