Hayes, Marcum named IBCA/Subway Players of the Week
Christian Academy of Indiana senior Aaron Hayes was named the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association/Subway Player of the Week following Saturday’s 50-point, 13-rebound performance in the Warriors’ 83-82 four-overtime victory over Christian Academy of Louisville.
For the week, Hayes averaged 37 points per game after scoring 24 in Tuesda’s win over Crothersville.
New Albany’s Tanner Marcum was the District 3 girls’ recipient. She scored 38 points and went over 1,000 points in a loss to Madison before scoring 32 in Saturday’s double-overtime triumph over rival Floyd Central.
Providence-Jeff tickets on sale
Tickets for Saturday’s Jeffersonville at Providence boys’ basketball game will be pre-sold only at Friday’s Charlestown at Providence girls’ basketball game. Tickets are $5 apiece.
Jeff-New Wash game rescheduled
The Jeffersonville at New Washington girls’ basketball game that was postponed due to winter weather has been rescheduled for Thursday. The junior varsity will begin at 6 p.m. with the varsity following at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Elementary boys invited to Jeff game
Chad Gilbert — coach of the Jeffersonville Red Devils boys’ basketball team — has invited all elementary school boys’ basketball teams to attend Friday’s game against Floyd Central on for free. Players and coaches must check in at the gate (the front door) when they arrive. The junior varsity game will start at 6 p.m. The varsity game will follow at approximately 7:30 p.m.
