The Jeffersonville wrestling team gave 13 junior varsity wrestlers a chance to grab some varsity time Wednesday as it wrestled two matches against Louisville Doss and Pleasant Ridge Park.
The Red Devils split their squads, with 50 percent varsity and 50 percent JV in the two matches. They still picked up two victories and ran their season record to 12-6 on the season.
Jeff beat Doss, 54-21 behind wins from Jon Reed, Evon Russell, Andrew Kelly, Jamie Goldsmith, Andrew Logsdon, Martin Dorsey, Justin Cunningham and Wendell Moore.
Versus PRP, the Red Devils won 53-36. Winning matches for the Devils were Cableb Visser, Amani Norris, Brent Quinn, Tony Middleton, Richard Hayes, A.J. Castro and Kyle Smith.
“I was happy to see our JV kids do well at the varsity level,” said Jeffersonville coach Danny Struck. “Hopefully this is a great sign for the future of this team. We are stressing team uniting and it seems to be helping each individual achieve.”
