Funeral services for Alvin Clarence Ehalt, 91, of Georgetown, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home, Georgetown, with burial in Wolfe Cemetery, Georgetown. He died Monday, March 8, 2010, at Consulate Health Care of Lakeland, Fla.
He was born in New Albany on June 10, 1918, to Clarence and Beulah Baylor Ehalt. He was a dispatcher for Huber and Huber Motor Express in Louisville, was a retired dairyman in Lanesville, after 36 years, and was a member of Lanesville United Methodist Church. He was a World War II Army veteran. He first served in the Medical Corps and then served as 1st Lieutenant in the Transportation Corps and received a commendation by President Harry S. Truman for his service to his country.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ayres Ehalt, of Lakeland, Fla.; stepdaughters, Marletta Jones Burns, of Clarksville and Norma Jean Meisel, of Dallas, Texas; brother, Ed Ehalt, of Georgetown; sisters, Norma Jean Kinder and Melba Meriwether, both of Georgetown; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Alzheimers Association.
