Robert P. Read, 93, of New Albany, died Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Green Valley Care Center in New Albany. Cremation was chosen. Services and burial were private.
He was a native of New Albany and was a 20-year Veteran of the U.S. Navy having served both in World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Read worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the construction crew and enjoyed being a member of the VFW American Legion-1693 Hobart Beach Post.
Survivors include his sons Robert F. Read- Georgia, Gary R. Read (Monica) of New Albany, Steven W. Read (Carol) of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; daughter Victoria Ann Wallace (Collin) of New Albany; three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Stella K. (Kroskey) Read; his mother Serena (Haley) Read; and his father Ralph E. Read.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any expressions of sympathy be made “In memory of Mr. Read” to the donor’s favorite charity. All arrangements were handled by the Market Street Location of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, 1119 E. Market St., New Albany.
