81; U.S. Army veteran

Funeral services for Leroy W. Caldwell, 81, of Louisville, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 13, at Gilt Edge Baptist Church, 1713 Green St., Jeffersonville, with burial in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, Ky. He died Thursday, July 9, 2009, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.

He was a retiree from Colgate-Palmolive Co. and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Gilt Edge Baptist Church, Jeffersonville, and a member of North Star Lodge 3.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Florence Richardson Caldwell; children, Jeffery Caldwell and his wife, Betty, Aamil Haleem and his wife, Aqueelah, of Jeffersonville; Vanessa Brown, of Campbellsville, Ky., Marietta L. Cunningham, Jean R.Whitt and her husband, Peter, Leroy W. Caldwell III, of Louisville, Selindh L. Franklin and her husband, Kevin, of Lexington; sister, Flossie Toran, of New Albany; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; uncle, Raymond Caldwell, of New Albany; aunt, Thelma Renfroe, of Jeffersonville; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be at the church from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Pyke-Calloway Funeral Services is in charge of the arrangements.
