John Thomas Paine

58; of Perry, Ga.






A memorial service for John Thomas Paine, 58, of Perry, Ga., will be Saturday, Feb. 6, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 1206 Maple Lane, Anchorage, Ky., with private interment in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville. He died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.

He was born Dec. 4, 1951, in Jeffersonville, son of the late Thomas and Ritchie Anderson Paine.

A 1970 graduate of Jeffersonville High School, he enjoyed a career as a musician, sharing his key board and vocal talents with audiences around the country as well as abroad. He was a performer and recording artist whose greatest joy was making friends through music. He had resided in Perry, Ga. since 2005. He was an avid golfer, becoming a teaching pro at Highland Ridge Country Club in Highlands County, Fla. and at the U.S. Golf Academy in Michigan. He proudly received his PGA card in 1993. He loved animals and supported animal charities whenever possible.

Survivors include his wife, Nadine Weems Paine; a son, John Nicholas Paine; sister, Nancy Paine Rath and her husband, Nelson; nephews, Mark Rath and his wife, Jessica and David Rath; great-niece, Elena Rath; stepdaughters, JoAnna Pate and her husband, Steve and Beth Blakley and her husband, Pete; three step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his extended family and many friends, especially those in the music industry.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his grandparents, Irvin and Rosalie Anderson of Jeffersonville and Fred Paine and Cora H. Paine Kepley, of Bovina, Texas.

Cremation was chosen.
