Daniel Gregory “Dan” Halak, 57, of New Albany, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012.
He was born on Feb. 6, 1955, to Evelyn (Huff) Halak and the late John Gregory Halak. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and worked for the Army Corps of Engineers for many years. He was united in marriage April 22, 1978, to Brenda Ann Bostock, and to this union brought one son to bless their home. He joined the Free & Accepted Masons Falls Lodge #749 and was raised to the degree of Master Mason on Jan. 20, 1989. Dan will not only be missed by his family, but by his large amount of friends that he cared dearly for.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Halak; son, Anthony Halak; mother, Evelyn Halak; grandson, Damion Halak; brother, David King Sr.; brothers-in-law, Richard, Douglas and his wife Valerie, and Scott and his wife Tina Bostock; sisters-in-law, Nikki King and her husband Wayne, and Linda Haas; mother-in-law, Evelyn “Lilly” Bostock.
Along with his father, he is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Robert “Bob” Bostock; and uncle, John Rittman.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany. Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in New Albany National Cemetery with full military honors being conducted.
