Funeral services for Paul Stanley Knecht, 82, of Sellersburg, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg, with entombment at Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville. He died Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Maple Manor Christian Home in Sellersburg.
He was born March 13, 1930, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Paul and Mary Knecht. He earned his PhD at Michigan State University before becoming a professor at Northern State University in South Dakota.
Survivors include Louise V. Knecht, of South Dakota; John Knecht and his wife, Tamara, of Louisville, Ky.; Charles Knecht and his wife, Beverly, of Mackville, Ky.; Louis “Mickey” Knecht and his wife, Molly, of Floyds Knobs; Madellene Hickman, of Georgetown; Betty Allen and her husband, Dennis, of Salem; Mary Lewter and her husband, Billy, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; Isaac Henry Knecht and Jerimiah John Knecht.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a hymn sing from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
