Memorial services for George William (Bill) Huckabone, 78, of Louisville, formerly of New Albany, will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 23, at Country Lake Christian Retreat, 815 Country Lake Road, Henryville. He died Sunday, June 17, 2012, at Hospice of Louisville.
He was born Oct. 7, 1933 in Kane, Penn., to Erma Dyne and George Huckabone. He graduated from Kane High School, Franklin College and Crosier Theological Seminary. He served as Minister in Methodist churches in Hanover and Corydon. His later years were spent in retail sales including ownership of The Wallpaper Shoppes in Louisville. He was a member of Metropolitan Community Church of Louisville.
He is survived by his children, Kevin and his wife, Pam, of New Albany, Steven, of Euless, TX, Thomas and his wife, Karen, of South Lyon, Mich. and Jennifer Shields and her husband, Brian, of Valparaiso; his grandchildren, Jonathan, Erin, William, Kara, Emily, Ethan, and Hannah; his siblings, Paul and his wife, Phyllis, Robert and his wife, Doris, Ron and his wife, Laura, and Gladys; and numerous nieces and nephews.
