Gary Leroy Smith

63; of New Albany

Funeral services for Gary Leroy Smith, 63, of New Albany, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 200 W. Park Place, Jeffersonville, with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. He died Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at his home.

He was born in Jeffersonville, on Jan. 13, 1949, and was employed at General Mills Inc. for more than 30 years. He enjoyed cooking and everyone else around him enjoyed when he was cooking. He loved to fish and play golf in his free time. He was also an avid Louisville Cardinal fan.

He is survived by his mother, Clara E. Smith; brother, Ronald A. Smith and his wife, Donna; sisters, Katina L. Smith and Yolonda Leavell and her husband, Price; sister-in-law, Norma Smith; step-daughter, Margaret C. Walker; grandchildren, Gabrielle Precious Walker and Braylon Leroy Walker; and several nieces and nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gary L. Walker; father, Noble C. Smith; and brother, Charles N. Smith.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, at the church.

Legacy Funeral Center in Jeffersonville is in charge of the arrangements.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions in care of his grandchildren. Envelopes will be available at the church.
