Funeral services for Opal LaVern Huffman Morgan Newsom, 84, of Sellersburg, will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 2, at Legacy Funeral Center in Jeffersonville, with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery.
She was born Aug. 3, 1928 in Pikeville, Ky., and was a member of the Church of God in Charlestown. The family would like to thank Maple Manor Christian Home for their kind care.
She is survived by her three children, Brenda Morgan Johnston, Joyce Morgan Rankin and her husband, Fred, and Dwight Morgan and his wife, Patty; four stepchildren, Jim Newsom, Theresa Brading, Kathy Clark and Ernie Newsom. Also left are the pride and joy of her life, 14 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Newsom; and a step-daughter, Jeva Seagraves.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy in the form of donations to Maple Manor Christian Home and the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington D.C. 20090-6011. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
