J. Paul Lipps

80; of New Albany

A funeral Mass for J. Paul Lipps, 80, of New Albany, will be at 11”30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Albany, with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. He died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012 , at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services, New Albany.

He was born Feb. 27, 1931, to the late John J. and Elsie Fenger Lipps in New Albany. He was retired as owner and partner of the Lipps National Printing Corporation in New Albany. He was an Army veteran and member of the Bonnie Sloan Post #28 American Legion. He was a Fourth Degree Knight at the Cardinal Ritter Council Knights of Columbus in New Albany and longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Paul was a founder of the Harvest Homecoming Festival in New Albany and a member of the Jaycees where he served as a past state vice-president. He was a former member of the Floyd Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, having served as chairman of the board and later as a volunteer at the hospital. He also served many years on the board of directors of The Salvation Army,  serving time as chairman of the board and was a member of the board of directors of the Cardinal Ritter Foundation in New Albany.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Virginia Ritter Lipps; a son, Stephen Lipps    , of Terre Haute; a daughter, Mary Carolyn Garriott (Scott), of Springfield, Ill.; a brother, Robert L. Lipps (Mary Helen), of New Albany; two grandchildren, Maggie and Mollie Garriott; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, at Kraft Funeral Service, Spring Street Chapel.
